Made me feel for your younger self - hey, I battered the chicken at Six Flags in 1976 with two hip chicks who taught me to smoke Kools. $1.80 an hour and I had plenty of money!

It is all in the journey Craig Coffee. We all have these things to get through! Stick with it. As they say - it gets better.

Wouldn't you love to go back and kick the shit out of those assholes. They obviously had their own problems, too bad they couldn't keep them to themselves. As they say these days," it gets better" and so it does. You turned out great! BTW enjoying the comics.

Thank you Dickie! I am not sure they were assholes. Just regular old everyday people protecting what they know as normal. And they are long ago and far away.

I agree with Dick - THEY WERE ASSHOLES. I like to think some of them look back and wince at themselves.

Lynne - I don't think they do. I guess my point is not to expose them but to celebrate the slow, painful, thorny process of coming out circa 1985.

"Chicken Sandwich" made me want to cry---and smack those long-ago kids around. And I'm a Christian! You are blessed with the gift of forgiveness, Mark. Better to be the one forgiving than the ones who need the forgiveness. As my husband says, "The best revenge is living well." And you do. Bravo.

I think we all take our knocks. If I didn't have some growing pains what would I write about? It was an interesting time. And most of these people were super nice to me. I'm glad you're reading!
